EVALUATION QUESTION 2.

How effective is the combination of your final main product and the ancillary texts?
We were trying to achieve in the main product a very tense and dark crime thriller, that was mainly based around a this certain room someone was locked in, and also based around ransom money. I believe by including elements of the film within the two advertising products we achieved this. The film poster for starters has a very dark colour scheme, which represents the atmosphere we were trying to create in our film, which indicates already to the audience that film is a thriller genre. The film poster includes huge aspects of our film, such as the huge lonely room which is the main picture in the poster. A character in our film was kidnapped and held random in a lonely isolated room, which indicates to the audience that the film is very dark and has elements of kidnap or even torture. The tape in the poster, is another element of a prop used in our film, the tape was put on the outside of the door in our main product, as an indication to the audience that this was an abandoned, secluded and even dangerous room, in which the character was trapped in. Finally the security camera in the top right hand corner of the poster, indicates to the audience that someone is constantly watching and looking in on the character, who is stuck in the room. The poster includes the star rating, certificate of the film, the producer, which gives the film an overall professional look and make it appear legit.

We researched similar films film posters, for example the main poster we used was 'Buried', as this has avery similar storyline to our film.  One element of the film poster which really stood out  and was effective was the tagline at top of the page, so as you can see at the top of our film poster i embeded a tagline which related specfically to our film however similarities can be seen. For example the colour scheme in the majority of the film poster is very dull and dark, which we tookj inspiration fom when creating our film poster, as all the colours we used were very dull and dark, to give the theme of negativity and darkness. Also notice on the poster the person in the poster is in a very confined place, which we show in our poster, that there is very small and lonely room within our film.

We also produced another advertising product which was a radio trailer, to relate to our main product. The radio trailer, however, proved to be a little trickier simply because during research we couldn't find many examples which fit our chosen genre. The outcome however didn't show any difficulties as i think it was successful in reflecting our main film product. The railed had dialogue from the film, which was to give the audience a taster of what would be involved in the film, which was an effective way of relating our radio trailer to our final film product. The dialogue in the film, that was in the radio trailer was from tense scenes, therefore creating more tension for those listening and also to intrigue them to view the final product. We also has a voiceover explaining what the characters of the film were called, describing the film as from reviews, which was effective as the more positive the film is described the more likely, the film is to get more viewers. The music also used in the radio trailer, is music taken out of the film, which also makes them relate together, which therefore will make it more successful and relatable for the audiences listening to go watch the film. The music used is very tense and low, that slowly builds up which an can build the audience tension and interest.
