GENRE:
Our Final Film Idea's genre is Crime/Thriller. There are different types of Thriller films such as, Crime Thriller (Seven), Psychological Thriller (American Psycho), Mystery Thriller (The Silence Of Lambs), Science Fiction Thrillers(Matrix) and Supernatural Thrillers (The Sixth Sense). A Thriller/Crime movie revolves around anticipation and suspense, and also tries to get the audience intrigued and questioning 'What is going to happen next?' A Thriller is meant to keep the audience interested in the plot and characters throughout the film by involving unexpected twists and mysteries in the film. A Thriller/Crime film also involves a person getting into a dangerous situation and must try get themselves out of it e.g. (Training Day), also it could involve a person trying to get someone out of trouble e.g. (Along Came A Spider.) The aim of a Thriller/Crime genre is to stimulate different moods from audiences. Thrillers/Crime films usually have a Protagonist and an Antagonist who are the two main characters and these are the two that usually end up in a battle and conflict throughout the film. Thriller films are also at times throughout the film fast paced which makes the audience feel tense and also excitement. A thriller may contain parts that startle, shock or even scare the audience however a Thriller film contains none or little disgusting or gory features such as blood that Horror films contain, but instead Thriller films scare the audience by creating the feeling of not knowing what is going to happen next and also involving plenty of twists throughout the film to keep the audience tense, cause them confusion and anxious and also may cause them to worry about the characters in the film who are involved in a dangerous situation.

HISTORY OF GENRE:
The Thriller genre firstly evolved from the genre of Crime films as a lot of crime occurs and is always present in a Thriller film but instead what is different to crime in a Thriller genre film to a Crime genre film is that in a Thriller film the threat of crime is building and creates tension by doing this, however in a Crime film crime is always happening and doesn't build but happens quite often not really creating any tension. The first Crime film made was the Runaway Train in 1903, however this like many other Crime Films didn't have enough tension and drama in them which then led to films in later years to have an element of suspense and tension in them this was when Thriller genre was born. The first ever recognised film that was under the Thriller genre was The Lodger in 1920's directed by Alfred Hitchcock. It was identified this film had built up tension, element of surprises and an intelligent interesting storyline. Many makings of Thriller films followed on from The Lodger such as M directed by Fritz Lang. Through out the years more and more films were made under the genre of 'Thriller', the most famous Thriller made one of the first few was 'Psycho' by Alfred Hitchcock in the 1960's, this Thriller film then inspired many other films and directors to make Thriller films.
