The Usual suspects
Plot- A sole survivor tells of the twists events leading up to a horrific gun battle on a boat, which begin when five criminals meet at a seemingly random police lineup.

Mise-en-scene- Throughout the film the lighting is quite dark which creates an element of mystery and suspense, foreshadowing the genre. Therefor the light colors that are shown from the explosions come more as a surprise and the red and orange color from the explosions create an element of danger. In the films there are certain props and codes and conventions that tell us its a stereotypical crime/thriller. For example guns, knifes, money, cigarettes and police tape help sculpt the genre.

Sound-The music in the film is slow paced and quite bleak which creates suspense which helps portray the thriller genre.

Cinematography- The camera angles help show which characters are superior or powerless or could in danger. Also at the end of the film, the camera zooms in on clues to unravel the mystery to present their importance in the story. The fist shot in the film is a close up of the boat to reveal its importance to the story.
