RESEARCH ON SIMILAR FILMS AND CHARACTERS.

SIMILAR FILMS:
There are a couple of films similar to our film as the films have some elements in them of what our final film idea has. The first similar film is Training Day. Training Day has similar elements that our film has. The main character in Training Day (Alonzo) owes a Russian Mafia some money (thousands of dollars) by a certain time and if the money isn't delivered to the Russian Mafia on time they will kill him. He tries different methods throughout the film of getting the money to save his skin but in the end he doesn't get the money in time therefore kill Alonzo. This has similarities to our film as in our film the person must get the ransom money to get his freedom if not he will be left in a room to die.
This is a short clip from Training day when the Russian Mafia catch up with Alonzo and kill him due to him not paying the money he owes.

Another similar film is Ransom directed by Ron Howard. Ransom is about Tom Mullen (Mel Gibson, main character) who is a millionaire through his job. One day his son is kidnapped. He is willing to pay the ransom but decides to call in the FBI, who manages to go into his home secretly. When he goes to make the drop something goes wrong. The kidnapper calls him again and reschedules it. On the way Mullen decides not to go and appears on TV saying that the ransom he was going to give to the kidnapper is now a reward to for anyone who catches the kidnappers. This is similar to our Final Film in the sense that our main character is kidnapped and must get some money for his release. Also the fact the kidnapper makes phone call about the ransom money which happens in our film. The genre is also the same as ours, Crime/Thriller.

This is a short clip of Ransom when Mullen rings the kidnappers about the ransom money.

CHARACTERS:
The characters in Ransom/Kidnapping crime/thriller films vary. Sometimes the victim is a strong wealthy character who has a family member/friend/partner kidnapped and must get a large amount of money to the kidnappers for the person to be released. The person kidnapped is usually a person who is stereotypically vulnerable  e.g. a woman or a young person. An example of a film with characters like this is Man On Fire, a film about an ex cop who becomes a body guard for a rich family's daughter, when the daughter gets kidnapped the family must get $10million to the kidnappers. The males in a film stereotypically have to 'save the day' and rescue the victims. Also the film Taken has a character kidnapped from her Dad. This is a similar character also to our film as our character who gets kidnapped and locked in a room is a young person.

The following images have been taken from Man On Fire, and Taken 1 & 2 showing the victim's are either young or a woman.

The following images are also taken from Man On Fire and Taken and show that the males are usually the protagonists and must rescue the victims.

The villains in the film usually have come from illegitimate backgrounds and have experienced and been around crime from a young age and only know crime as a lifestyle. Sometimes the villains in crime/thriller films do the stuff they do as payback or revenge to someone. An example of this is Taken 2 the people who kidnap a CIA agents wife do it as payback as he had killed the kidnappers family members and friends.

Below is an image from Taken 2 of a family trying to attack the CIA agent in which he previously killed one of their family members.
