SUBGENRE- Action

During the 1920's to 1930's action films were often western films such as the mask of Zorror and the Last of the mohicans. In the 1940's to 1950's action films were often shown as cowboys or war films e.g "North by northwest" and "The Guns of Navarone."  In the 1960's James Bond films dominated a large part starring in the modern-day action films which utilised car chases, gadgets, weapons and fist fights. In the 1970's Bond saw competition as crime drama's and detective stories began to fuse. In the 'action era' (1980's) films were made popular by actors such as: Slyvester Stellone, Bruce Willis and chuck Norris. In the 1990's films showed that one sucsesful film could lead to a whole franchise. 2000 films and onwards were able to produce more high tech breathtaking films due to the advanced technology. The quality of these films were better than ever before and being able to use CGI, 3D and filming in IMAX meant the films were more appealing. 

The first film idea of mine is an action film. A similar film to my film idea in terms of genre is 'Taken'. Throughout the film Taken, the abductor of a young girl is being followed by the father of the young girl(Bryan.) Bryan used to work in the CIA and used tracking devices to track down the kidnapper. Bryan's former college Sam also says in the film that if she is not rescued within ninety-six hours, she will likely never be found. This compares to our film as there is a timeline against the events in the film. There is also iconography such as walkie talkies and uncover tracking devices included in both Taken and my film idea. One of the characters in my film idea is an undercover agent which compares to Taken.
